Hi Suxeeder,

• Do you have dual monitor setup?
• Was it working fine before?
• Have you made any changes recently on the computer?
• Is it a wired mouse or wireless mouse?

If you are using a wireless mouse, check if the batteries are full of charge. Also try replacing the batteries and check.

Try connecting the mouse to different port on the computer and check if the issue still persists. You may also try connecting the mouse to different computer and check.

Try changing the mouse settings which might help you to fix the issue:

To change how the mouse pointer works

1.Open Mouse Properties by clicking the Start, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type mouse, and then click Mouse.
2.Click the Pointer Options tab, and then do any of the following:
•To change the speed at which the mouse pointer moves, under Motion, move the Select a pointer speed slider toward Slow or Fast.
•To make the pointer work more accurately when you're moving the mouse slowly, under Motion, select the Enhance pointer precision check box.
•To speed up the process of selecting a choice when a dialog box appears, under Snap To, select the Automatically move pointer to the default button in a dialog box check box.
•To make the pointer easier to find when you move it, under Visibility, select the Display pointer trails check box, and then move the slider toward Short or Long to decrease or increase the length of the pointer trail.
•To ensure that the pointer doesn't block your view of the text you're typing, under Visibility, select the Hide pointer while typing check box.
•To find a misplaced pointer by pressing the Ctrl key, under Visibility, select the Show location of pointer when I press the Ctrl key check box.
3.Click OK.

You may also try updating the drivers for the mouse from Device Manager and check.

Hi There, and thanks for the answer.

1. Yes I have dual monitor setup.
2. It is a new computer and the fault has been there since I got it.
3. No changes.
4. It's a wired mouse, with no batteries (logitech MX518).

I've tried to change USB slot - no change.

I've tried changing the mouse settings - no change.

I've tried updating the mouse drivers - no change.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

How? I have the same problem. It changes when switching to my other monitor; didn't see anything under the Mouse settings.

Change from the Windows Aero mouse to some of the "normal" versions and the problem will go away. But, that's not really a solution just a workaround. I would love for someone to give me an answer to why the Aero is destroying my pointer...

Makes sense. Though, the odd thing is, the problem went away on its own. I'm sure it will come back again, and when it does, I'll try your trick.

Uncheck the "Enable pointer shadow" box under the "Pointers" tab in "Mouse Properties"

You can go to the mouse properties by searching for "mouse" from the windows start menu

Go with the mouse into the affected screen (where the mouse 'screwed up') there go with the mouse into the top-right-corner and make there (without changing into the other screen) some small right-clockwise circles.

The mouse should change then back.

Yes, that fixed the problem for me! Take the mouse pointer to the top-right corner of the monitor and make a few clock-wise circles.
